Dr. Dean Tripp Dr. Tripp completed his PhD in Clinical Psychology at Dalhousie University in 2000. He joined the Department of Psychology at Queen’s University shortly afterward and has been cross-appointed with the Department of Anesthesiology and Urology. He teaches courses in Health Psychology, Interpersonal Therapy, Pain, and has established his Psychology Pain Research Unit
Dr. Tripp’s research and clinical interests have always focused on pain. He has researched broad issues of pain including pain and dental procedures, psychological factors involved in disability following soft tissue injury (e.g., whiplash), gender differences in pain, pain/disability following work and athletic injury, arthritis, surgery, and chronic pelvic pain syndromes.
Dr. Edward Wasser Dr. Wasser completed his undergraduate medical training at McMaster University and post-graduate medical training at the University of Toronto. Dr. Wasser has more than 20 years in Emergency Medicine and holds American certification in pain management. He is a Head/Neck and Back Pain specialist with The Jacob’s Pain Centre and The Pain Institute. He has served on opioid/pain advisory boards and co-authored guidelines on the use/dosing of Botox in Pain. He lectures on pain and the safe and effective use of opioids; “bullet-proofing” physician practices when prescribing controlled substances in chronic pain patients
Dr. Joel Bordman Dr. Bordman graduated from the University of Toronto School of Medicine in 1985. He is currently the Medical Director of the complex pain program at First Step Medical Clinics and the Medical Director of the Interdisciplinary Chronic Pain program at Austin Rehab Clinics. He is a Diplomat of the American and Canadian Academies of Pain Management as well as a Certificant of the International Society of Addiction Medicine. He has his exemption to prescribe Methadone for both pain and addiction.
Dr. Alice Ordean Dr. Ordean is the Medical Director of the Toronto Centre for Substance Use in Pregnancy (T-CUP) at St. Joseph’s Health Centre and Assistant Professor in the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. She completed Family Medicine training at the University of Toronto in 2000 followed by a Master of Health Sciences in Family Medicine and Community Health (Collaborative Program in Alcohol, Tobacco and Other Psychoactive Substances) from the University of Toronto in 2005. Dr. Ordean is a principal investigator in numerous research projects including the development of comprehensive educational tools for health care providers and better practice recommendations relating to substance use in pregnancy.
Mary Nelson Mary Nelson graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy in 1974 and has over 30 years of pharmacy experience, including 12 years specializing in drug information retrieval, 3 years in pharmacy related research and 4 years in managed care pharmacy.
She has worked for Dell Pharmacy in the Hamilton area for over ten years and is currently Pharmacist/Business Manager at their Ancaster location. She is a preceptor for the SPEP Program at the University of Toronto Faculty of Pharmacy and also supervises technician students from Mohawk College.
With the current changes occurring in health care, Mary is pleased to work proactively with patients and their physicians to ensure patients are getting the most from their medications while minimizing their health risks. She specializes in a number of disease states including diabetes care, smoking cessation and pain management. She is also actively involved on the Organizing Committee of the Burlington Physician/Pharmacist Collaboration project. Kalvin Brown Kalvin obtained his pharmacy degree from university of Saskatchewan in 1989. He has a broad range of proficiencies with management and ownership level practice, adult education training, facilitation of pharmacy education and workshops, project management, drug utilization review and analysis. He has served on numerous committees for OPA and was on the Board of Directors and Executive Committee. He has received numerous awards, including the Pharmacy Practice – Commitment to Care Award for Health Promotion and the OPA’s Mortar and Pestle Award of Merit. Kalvin runs a very busy methadone practice in North Bay and works very closely with the local methadone physicians Return to Online Modules
