Drug Information and Research Centre The Drug Information and Research Centre (DIRC) is the leading provider of evidence-based drug information in Canada. Owned and operated by the Ontario Pharmacists' Association, DIRC's approach to answering drug information questions is highly respected and trusted by hundreds of clients daily. As the first point of contact for one in four pharmacies in Canada, DIRC understands the needs of health professionals. Community pharmacists, hospital pharmacies, physicians, nurses, government, pharmaceutical companies, and the public all count on DIRC to address their drug information needs. DIRC is an Ontario College of Pharmacists approved drug information provider. Turning drug-related knowledge into practice DIRC is staffed by a team of more than 30 healthcare professionals, including a director, drug information manager, education manager, senior pharmacist of knowledge translation and Ontario licensed drug information pharmacists. Drug information is DIRC's core function. As Canada's premier pharmacist-operated drug information centre, DIRC operates a call centre that provides drug information 16 hours a day, 365 days a year, responding to approximately 60,000 inquiries. Our core hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5pm. The centre's drug databases are continuously updated, and its drug information experts can sort through the most current medical literature to provide immediate, patient-focussed answers to the most complex questions. In addition to its call centre, DIRC provides outsourced medical information services to pharmaceutical companies and other organizations, medical writing services, drug information publications, and a wide range of innovative continuing education programs. DIRC is a highly sought-after supplier of medical information in Canada and beyond. In 2008, DIRC began providing drug information services to the Department of National Defence and the Canadian Forces, expanding its services both nationally and globally and highlighting its reputation for a timely, accurate, and evidence-based approach to answering drug information questions. DIRC's Quality Management System is independently audited and registered to the ISO 9001:2008 standard. The Ontario Pharmacists' Association The Ontario Pharmacists' Association represents the views and interests of more than 11,000 pharmacists and pharmacists-in-training across the province.
